1994 saw EMU approach the tannery in Geelong to formulate a strategy to produce UGG boots of a higher standard. The EMU name is due to the Australian national bird which holds a lot of representations. However, due to demands some production takes place abroad, however the boots are still made of the same high quality Australian merino wool and the same production methods as the tannery in Geelong used since the 1970’s.
